Occasionally we find ourselves in embarrassing situations and the natural response is to try to salvage our image. Sometimes our efforts yield the desired results, other times we end up escalating the matter. Sometimes we’re dumb-founded and helpless.

What constitutes an embarrassing moment?

This question can have varied answers. Although the feeling of embarrassment or shame may largely be descriptively similar, situations or acts that amount to shame, tend to be relative. At times culture and society defines shame; other times it’s just an individual’s perspective.

In an era where the Hare and the Monkey lived together as friends, it was considered a taboo and embarrassment for one to see his/her in-law’s nakedness.

Males were not allowed to come to close proximity with their mothers-in-law, let alone either party seeing another naked.
